ARUNA ROY

ARUNA ROY born on 26 june 1946. she is an activist who founded and heads to ”MAZDOOR KISAN SHAKTI SANGATHAN”. She is best known as a prominent leader of the right to inormation movement through National Campaign for Peoples right to information , which led to the enactment of the right to information act in 2005. She had also remained a member of the National Advisory Council.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS;

In 2000, she received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership.In 2010 she received the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for excellence in public administrartion, academic and management.

NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

In 2004, under the leadership of Manmohan Singh, the congress party won the National election and formed the central government.

CAREER

Aruna served as a civil servant in the INDIAN ADMINISTRATION SERVICE between 1968 and 1974. she resigned the job to devote her time to social and political campaigns. she joined the social work and research center in Rajasthan.
