At least that’s what I have gathered in my experience. Few days back, I heard my neighbour yelling at her son and saying, “ladki ki tarah sara time kitchen me baitha reh.”

  Now many of you would not found anything wrong. After all, cooking is a woman’s job -right? That’s what everyone has taught us.

I, on the other hand, have a major problem with it- mainly because I am not too fond of cooking. A sin, many would say  because I am a woman and one day I had to get married. I have always heard many things for my inability to Cook food. But it doesn’t stem from the fact that I am lazy.

But only I know that how hard I have tried to prepare meals, but I don’t know why it always ended with a plate of disaster.

I perceive cooking like any other activity- something you can be good at if you like it, and suck it, if your don’t . Just like any other thing like writing, painting, etc. In many opinion, it has nothing to do with gender.

Yet, so far many aunties have shared their pearls of wisdom with me. According to them – if I don’t cook for my husband- to- be , it means I don’t love him.

For god sake, what does love have to do with cooking? I have been always told that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So I can’t Cook -does it mean he will not be loved back? That’s rubbish. These things give me a headache.

    With time our society has tried to modify it ‘s take on everything feminine.,so I  also hoping it will also forgo cooking. Because my disability to cook does not make me a half wioman 

I am proud of my gender and I don’t feel the need to turn into a artist to prove it to the world.
